Devic Thresholds - Abstract Plein Air Watercolor Painting Workshop

North Atwater Park Trail, Atwater Village - Los Angeles River Bank
This outdoor workshop meets at the North Atwater Park Trail Parking Lot. Together we will walk near the river for a session of Abstract Plein Air Watercolor Painting being in direct relationship with landscape, light and the L.A. River’s seasonal movement. Rather than focusing on representational accuracy, we work with abstraction, gesture, color and sensory response to place.
We will include a tasting of Gentle Trickster, our new flower essence, offered as a companion to perceptual opening and creative flow. Participants are also invited to share persimmon leaf and hibiscus (Jamaica) tea for cooling and grounding during warm weather sessions.
When conditions allow, we work near the river in close attention to shifting light, wind, and local wildlife, often including blue herons moving through the watershed.
What to bring:
Please bring your watercolor kit, including brushes, water container for washing, and watercolor paper. A limited supply of materials is available for an additional fee; please reach out in advance to coordinate. Bring blanket, camp chair and/ or pillow for comfort if applicable.
Open to all levels, this session centers slow observation and material play with embodied attention to landscape through abstraction.
